چکیده
The intercalation compounds of layered dichalcogenides MX2 (M = transition metal, X = S, Se) with Lewis base guest molecules have received considerable attention due to their interesting physical properties and structural anisotropy [1]. The most simple molecule that is known to intercalate is the thermodynamically stable compound NH3; extensive work has been devoted to the characterization of the intercalation reactions and the products MS2(NH3). The theoretical treatment of the interaction host lattice/guest molecules in terms of whole-complex molecular orbitals [2] or the Mulliken charge-transfer formalism [3] suggests a transfer of electron density towards the dichalcogenide layers. Recent investigations were able to demonstrate, however, that the intercalation process is correlated with redox reactions, and an ionic structure model [4] was presented that involves the presence of NH4+ ions: (NH4+)^(NH3)1_^[MS2]X-. An alternative model, suggested recently, implies hydride formation [5] with hydrogen atoms in the intralayer position as observed for HrTaS2 [6]. The basic structure schemes for the different models are given in Figure 1.

NMR measurements on Intercalated 3R-TaS2.Ix (I=NH3 and N2H4)
Proton nuclear magnetic resonance was used to probe the environment of the intercalant molecule in low dimensional (aeolotropic) solids 3RI-TaSz(NHJhJ and 3Ru-TaS2(N2H4)4/3. and, specifically to look for phase transitions associated with changes in superlattice geometry. The proton resonance frequency for the intercalated molecules in the temperature interval 200 to 300 K indicates that there a...
متن کاملLow energy structural dynamics and constrained libration of Li(NH3)4, the lowest melting point metal.
The lattice and molecular dynamics for the solid phases of the lowest melting-point metal, Li(NH3)4, are determined by incoherent inelastic neutron scattering. Measurements of internal molecular displacements and distortions of the Li(NH3)4 units have been modelled and assigned using density functional theory calculations for the solid and molecular system. Inelastic neutron scattering measurem...
متن کاملPhase Transitions and Water Dynamics of [Co(H20 )6](C104)2 and [Mn(H20 )6](BF4)2 Studied by Neutron Scattering Methods
Inelastic incoherent neutron scattering (IINS) spectra and neutron powder diffraction (NPD) patterns, registered for [Co(H20 ) 6](C104)2 at 18 270 K and for [Mn(H20 )6](BF4)2 at 18 230 K, provided evidence that these crystals possess three solid phases in these ranges of temperatures. In both compounds the phase transition occurring at T C3 is connected with a change of the crystal structure, a...
متن کاملModeling the Dialectic
Models are constructed that satisfy each dialectical scheme TAS1, TAS2, TAS3. Significantly different finite models that satisfy TAS1 and TAS2, a denumerable model that satisfies schemes TASi, i = 1, 2, 3 and an infinite hyperfinite model, with a single antithesis, that satisfies TAS1 and TAS2 are defined. It is shown that no finite model satisfies TAS3. Mathematics Subject Classifications 03B2...
متن کاملSynthesis and Properties of Open Fullerenes Encapsulating Ammonia and Methane
We describe the synthesis and characterisation of open fullerene (1) and its reduced form (2) in which CH4 and NH3 are encapsulated, respectively. The 1 H NMR resonance of endohedral NH3 is broadened by scalar coupling to the quadrupolar 14 N nucleus, which relaxes rapidly. This broadening is absent for small satellite peaks, which are attributed to natural abundance 15 N. The influence of the ...
